Alex did my DSE review last month and already I can tell the difference. She started with me taking a few pictures of my setup, went away and went through her checklist, then came back to me the next day with some really practical suggestions. These ranged from moving my desk and chair around in the office to provide more space, all on a level, etc., through to a few pieces of kit that cost me less than £100 to implement (laptop raiser & wireless keyboard and mouse).

I was very interested when Alex told me about her new venture to help small businesses to become more sustainable and to build the thinking into their business activities. Once Alex was ready we arranged a discovery call and I quickly signed up.
The process was easy to follow, and Alex was amenable and supported me to identify what I was already doing and giving ideas for future improvement.
I now feel my business is better placed and has more direction in making its activities more sustainable. We still have lots to do but I now feel I am on that journey.

I attended a brilliant, thought-provoking webinar this morning, hosted by Alex Hughes of a Auxilium Business Consulting on how to begin a sustainability journey for my business.
Alex encouraged us to start by thinking about the things we already do to make our our work sustainable and greener – however small those things may be – under four different headings: environment, community, workplace and philanthropy.
While I have a long way to go before I can claim to be fully sustainable or carbon neutral, it was really encouraging to reflect on what I do at the moment – things like driving an electric car, using a renewable energy supplier, minimising travel and doing as much of my work as possible online and giving up some of my time to volunteer as a school governor.
But the most exciting bit was starting to think about the potential that I can have to reduce the impact of my business on the environment.
Plenty of food for thought!
So, if you are looking for advice or support on how to make your business more sustainable, I would definitely recommend dropping Alex Hughes a line!

As the owner of a small publishing company, we set up a recruitment side to our business online. We asked Alex to help set this up, dealing with the administration and general research prior to launch and going online with the service.
