On Tuesday, 3 February 2026, I was out and about in London for Rachel Dunford’s first birthday of the Impactful Community. This was an afternoon event that brought members together in person, with others joining on Zoom. It was warm, welcoming, and quietly powerful: not just a celebration, but a meaningful checkpoint on what this community is becoming.
What stood out most
There was a noticeable shift from “networking to belonging”. The conversations weren’t rushed. People listened, reflected, and contributed with real care. That really matters because the strongest communities aren’t built on constant activity. They’re built on trust.

And then Kara Stanford summed it up with a mantra many people will recognise: “I can. I will. Watch me.”
Not as a performance but more as a promise to ourselves.
Hybrid connection done well
A special mention for the blend of in-person and Zoom participation: online members were not on the sidelines. The format created genuine inclusion, making it easier for everyone to contribute. That is what a modern community should look like: accessible, intentional, and human.
From reflection to collective impact in 2026
The most future-focused part of the afternoon was our exploration of how we can create collective impact in 2026. The shift was important: moving from individual intention to shared follow-through.
The opportunity for a community like this is clear: to turn
