HR Dept North Surrey, Kingston and Wimbledon
Professional services teams are increasingly being asked by clients, candidates, and supply chains to evidence responsible practice and not just talk about it. CSR and sustainability are now showing up in tenders, supplier onboarding, retention conversations, and brand trust.
As part of HR Dept North Surrey, Kingston and Wimbledon’s 2026 Professional Development Calendar, Sandra Porter (FCIPD) commissioned me to curate a session to upskill her team on CSR and sustainability in a way that was clear, commercial, and immediately actionable.
I delivered an interactive workshop designed specifically for professional services teams, which focused on what CSR means in practice, what “good evidence” looks like, and how to build structured progress without creating an admin burden.
What we covered
- CSR basics: what CSR is (and is not), how expectations have shifted, and how CSR differs by sector
- Why it matters: business benefits, risk reduction, reputation, competitive advantage, and client demand (especially in tenders and onboarding)
- Inclusion as CSR: why inclusion belongs within CSR, and the outcomes of embedding it well within organisational values
- Accreditations: what bodies look for, and how to choose what is relevant and proportionate
- CSR-A explained: what CSR Accreditation is and how it supports structured progress
- The CSR-A 4 Pillar framework: a clear model with practical examples (by sector)
- Evidence gathering: what credible evidence looks like and how to capture it efficiently
- Common SME pain points: time, confidence, fragmented data, unclear standards, and “where do we start?”
- Next steps: a simple route from intent to plan, evidence, and measurable improvement
What the team said – their feedback to me
“Practical and thought-provoking — Alex’s passion is contagious.”
What I noticed in the room – my feedback to them
It was genuinely refreshing to work with a collaborative team who were exceptionally welcoming, open, curious, and motivated whcih resulted both to strengthen CSR within their own business and to better support their clients.
